Booked Dream

17 11 2007

How is it that I just found out about this yesterday when Neil nonchalantly mentioned in his blog that, soon, he’ll heading to and staying for a week in the Philippines with his son? I usually know these things months in advance!

This time, I will hug him even if it kills me. I must.

Dang, why is it so hard to meet bestselling foreign authors in Manila? One of my favorite Australian travel writers is launching his book on the 21st, and the admission price is only $25. I won’t be able to go there (because I don’t know where it is lol), but he invited people in his mailing list for some drinks. And THAT’s where I’m going :D

Whoa, so lucky!!! Your travel writer is so nice! Where are you guys drinking? I wish Gaiman does that, too, but I’d probably be too shy to say anything. Haha.

Haha! When my sister and I were lining up the girls in front of us hugged him and we were like, “>=/! Look at those hos, touching him! Fine, we’ll hug him too.” And when it was our turn we stood at a respectful distance (I had my hands steepled) and said in a very reverent voice, “I really admire you.” Or something along those lines.

/pathetic

@codesamurai: Hmm, that’s how I read it. I think he won’t be doing any signing during that awards thing at High Street or we’ll have 343,645,129 people lining up like last time. =D

@Amanda: I KNOW, RIGHT?! I suspect it’s the ol’ all-girls Catholic school restraint. Or maybe we’re just too in awe. T_T

What’s the deal with Neil?

All I know is, I gotta become one of these “cool authors,” so squealing fangirls will be lining up to hug me!

(So what’cha want me to write about?)

Hehe, how about stories with characters that one can cosplay at cons? Although it’d be hard to write those… in a travel book…

That, miss, is a brilliant suggestion! I knew I bookmarked this site for a reason! (Altho’ I suppose it’d be more efficient to set up a feed….)

Okay, now let me see….

“Daddy!” Madeline exclaimed. “What ever are you wearing!”

Nealon Gaines turned, puzzled, to face his daughter. “I should think that would be quite apparent. It’s a Wolseley helmet.”

“Yes, well,” Madeline sighed, exasperated as usual with the eccentricities of her peripatetic parent, “It makes you look like Jungle Jim, and it clashes dreadfully with your sport coat.”

“Not nearly so much as Spalding’s did with his dinner jacket.”

“Yes, quite as much, if not more so. And why did you choose…”

“Pink? Oh, c’mon, Madds! ‘A pink sport coat, a white carnation.’”

“I think it goes the other way ’round, duuuhhh… I mean Dad.”

“Er… you mean the buttons go in back?” Gaines tugged doubtfully at the front of his nearly neon jacket.

“No, silly! ‘White sport coat, pink carnation!’”

“Oh.” A flush crept to Gaines’ cheeks. Madeline giggled as she watched his complexion change hue, chameleon-like, to match his rosy garment. “At least,” Gaines faltered, “the jacket coordinates with the shoes.”

“I see.” Madeline’s eyes sparkled with bemusement. “Tan shoes with pink shoe laces.”

This will be BRILLIANT! Thanx for the suggestion!

(Found your blog via Niña, by the way….)

That would be an… uhh… amazing cosplay. You’ve deliberately made it as homely as possible, didn’t you? XD

(Ahh, yes, I figured as much. Thanks. :) BTW, I can’t seem to access your blog… ;)

“Deliberately homely?” I thought all the “cool kids” dressed like that! ;-)

Oh, sorry about the blog thing. Since I haven’t really done anything with it yet, I blanked it out temporarily. That would be, temporarily as in going on five months now.

I have an LJ. But it’s in English. I’ve updated the “website” clickie-thing to there.

Seriously, I think you’re right about the “cosplay” stuff. Create memorable, lovable, or outlandish characters, and provide vivid descriptions of their clothing, hair, and accessories, with enough detail that readers can replicate the outfits so accurately that they’re easily recognizable.

Haha, glad that helps. =)
